Wacoal UK with respect to their community involvement in Sri Lanka

We’ve been fitting women since 1988 — and we’re just getting started.

Latest feedback on Sustainability and “Giving Back” to our community in Sri Lanka.

Wacoal Lanka Solar Panel Progress update

The Wacoal Lanka factory has now been harvesting electricity from the Solar Panel placed on the factory roof for over 6 months.

We have seen over 86% of our electricity usage now being generated through these Solar Panels and a confirmed payback of our original invest within 3 Years. We anticipated an 80% usage, so this is better than we expected, even though some particularly heavy rainy periods.

Giving Back to the community: Canal Strainer in operation

The St Sebastian Canal North Strainer is now in operation, with the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation (SLLDC) removing 18,741 kg of waste in the 4th Quarter of 2024. This waste is removed to a waste separation plant in Kerawalapitya Waste Park.

I have added the comparison of the other Strainer in this canal, that is already in operation with our partner Noyon Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Development Cooperation Team then remove the collected waste on a daily basis. The plan is for this to be in place for a minimum 5 years.

This project helps prevent vector borne diseases, which is a high health risk in Sri Lanka for the local community.

The long-term aim is to work to reduce the amount of waste deposited in the canal, through education and suitable collection facilities in the Colombo District.

CSR Project – School Stationary / Book for school children

520 packs of school stationary with a school bag have been arranged and will be distributed to our Wacoal Lanka employees. This is distributed out of the Wacoal Lanka Social account to support the Welfare of our employees and the local community.
